Our History
Halliwick Park Allotments has a documented history dating back to at least the 1920s.
1924 - Registration of the Association
In 1938, Halliwick Park Allotment Holders Association was registered on 3rd March 1924. The registration record and the Association's rules were established. Registration Number: 9876R
1938 - The Association was requesting improvements
In 1938, Council records show that the Association had an elected representative on the Council's Allotments Committee and had requested improvements to the roadway through the allotments. This establishes that the Association was formally organised and actively communicating with the Council by 1938.

1941 - Allotments continued during the war
The 1941–1942 Council records refer to the Halliwick Park allotments in connection with applicants waiting for allotments and water supply.
One entry states that the Halliwick Park Allotment Holders Association had no applicants waiting for allotments. Another section records a request concerning a water supply to the allotments.

1957 - Water supply at Coppetts Road
The Association continued to be involved in the management and improvement of the allotments. By 1957, Council records refer to the Halliwick Park Allotment Holders' Association Limited, including its representative, vacant plots and requests for additional water supply at the Coppetts Road allotments.

1964 - Approximately six acres were surrendered
A significant change came in 1963, when approximately six acres (approx. 261,360 square feet, or 24,281 square meter) of the Coppetts Road allotment site were surrendered for public open-space purposes. The surrender took effect on 31 March 1963.

2013 - Self managed societies, New lease
From 1 April 2013, Barnet Council ceased managing the borough’s allotment sites, which were transferred to the management of their respective allotment societies. The societies took on responsibility for the day-to-day management and maintenance of their sites under 38-year leases with Barnet Council.

Today
Halliwick Park Allotment Holders Association continues to manage the allotments at Trott Road, at the junction with Coppetts Road, providing a valued community growing space in society
